Today I finished the Life{365} bonus layouts.  This kit is available for life {365} members only. This kit will be available in September along with your regular monthly kit.  For the life {365} members who have been with us from the beginning this kit is FREE! If you started later the kit is available for you to purchase.

Just a little challenge for today~ I have been playing with the embossed Distress Cardstock from Core-dinations lately.  In fact I have been playing with it a lot!  I must say I love it and I love the way my layouts turn out.
I would love to see what you are doing with these amazing papers.  Want to share?
I do have a little tip for you when using the sandables,
Change your sandpaper between colors because the colors do transfer with the sandpaper.  I like my little hand held Tim Holtz sander or a sanding block (like the ones manicurists use).
What ever you do just enjoy getting scrappy!
always,
michele

what's new?

I know if you are a reader of this blog you know I have designed a set of four layouts to honor our 4 legged friends and that I will be teaching the techniques used in these layouts in a workshop Saturday August 17th at 11:00 am.

I want to tell you just a little about the process of creating these layouts.
First you have to have an idea!
(dog days of summer was my idea)
Then you find your papers and embellishments.
The papers were easy-ish.  The pet papers all come from Canvas Corp and are dog themed.  Easy so far but as I looked at the papers laying on my work top I realized immediately I wanted color..so I put this color and that color with my papers to add a pop!  I love red, red is a classic color addition to any neutral layout.
In looking for the perfect red papers to go on the layout I went to our Christmas section.  Now I know to some people this may sound strange but really RED is a CHRISTMAS color and what better place to look.  Besides I knew we had just received the most beautiful red and kraft Christmas papers designed by our dear friend Margie Romney Aslett for Bazzill Paper Co.
They are wintery/Christmas-y but some were neutral enough to go perfectly on the layouts.

So here is the end result of one of the layouts!
Look not for the obvious choices when choosing papers for your scrapbooking....look in the unlikely places too!  I think it will be the beginning of a wonderful adventure!

IN OTHER NEWS!.....

TERESA COLLINS' PAPERS and EMBELLISHMENTS FOR HALLOWEEN AND CHRISTMAS ARE NOW IN STOCK AT GIRLFRIENDS!

These collections are to die for!  We have picked the best of the best from the many scrapbooking companies!  I hope you like them too!

michele

Thankfully back to Blog

Call your friends!

Alert the News!

We are back online and bustin' to blog!

It has been a little over a month since my computer crashed....Yes CRASHED! Lost it all ....every bit and every bite.  Every font, every digital widget, every word, every picture, everything!
I had backed up my pictures (you know where my priorities are) but everything else is gone.
The computer is now fixed.
I have all of two programs restored.
I am online
and
today I am bloggin'

We have been busy around the shop.  Creating new projects for our Girlfriends has been a top priority of course.  This weekend we will be creating a beautiful baby book

You will choose between boy and girl or grab one of each while you can!
We are using acrylic albums for the bases and loads of lace, trims, and buttons to embellish the beautiful baby papers by KaiserKraft!

We will be stamping on the acrylic pages - it was new for me too but I love it!  I think you will love this project!

In addition to creating classes and workshops at the shop we have been helping with a few little odds and ends for weddings...take a peek at a few of our favorite projects!

We also had a couple of darling All American Workshops....I know those who got to make them loved the time spent making lovely things!

Flashback Friday...in the beginning

In the beginning there was a little gift show on Main Street in Historic Downtown Twin Falls.
Lisa had put her heart and soul into the shop but she wanted a new adventure.

So the adorable little gift shop became Girlfriends!  The cutest little scrapbook and art shop in the WORLD!

We love pink and black and white and all the colors so we made the shop distinctive in its colors
Lisa is hanging our mirror...it is still hanging there!

Candy, one of the original girlfriends, marking freight and putting it on the shelves

Casey was our most willing helper and did the heavy lifting in those early days

Jessie measured fibers and rolled them onto spools while Isa investigated a folding table

It took more pink paint to get our huge letters the right color than we ever expected!
Salespersons stopped by to encourage us to spend money

Lisa got swallowed up in her work

I hung letters

We debated

J.R. Davis did the windows

Lisa hung letters

Grandbabies came to visit

Freight arrived

Displays were created

and created

and created.
We opened the doors and friends, new and old, came to visit!
That was almost 8 years ago.  We are still here and our corner of the world just gets better and better!
Visit us anytime...there is no bad time to come to Girlfriends!

Girlfriends today!  Still as pretty as a picture.
