Bringing Up Baby!

I want to give our Girlfriends a little gallery they can go to for some layout ideas.  All these layouts are the work of Michele Hamilton (me!) for Girlfriends Boutique in Twin Falls Idaho.

Look around enjoy yourself.  Be inspired!

If you would like to submit a layout to this gallery send it to
michele@scrappingirlfriends.com.
We will be thrilled to add it to the gallery
Remember Girlfriends Share!

As you can probably tell from the papers and embellishments in these layouts most of them were created some time ago.  Use the ideas and make them today with the papers we now have!  Or create them digitally or maybe do some hybrid scrapbooking by incorporating both types of scrapbooking to make a totally unique layout!

Print a picture on vellum then place it
over a colored piece of card stock to
add a little interest!

One of a Kind
I just love the colors combination in this layout! Try using some non-traditional colors in your baby layouts.  It doesn't have to be all pastel it can have some contrast in it!
Tip:
Stamp some of your journaling onto twill tape!  It is a really fun way to title pictures or add a quote to a layout.

ABC...XYZ
Each of the letters in this layout is actually a flap that covers two photo mats!  That makes it possible to put as many as 16 photos on this layout!!!!  My mom used to sing us the song that inspired this layout..."A you're adorable, B you're so beautiful..."  Thanks Mom!
Tip:
Use your monograms as templates to cut out the letters in other papers!

One of the little things that makes every layout special is the use of ink on the edges of all your pieces.  I like colorbox Fluid Chalk ink for this.  It is true that one little cats eye chalk pad can be the most important embellishment.

Heaven Sent
This layout features painted backgrounds and a painted plexiglass cover for one special picture.  It also has a hinged photo mat.
Tip:
Use silk flowers as a pretty embellishment on any layout.

Baby's Firsts
The use of oversized letters or numbers is a huge trend in scrapbooking.  This layout
could easily be adapted for a birthday or a school year layout.
Tip:
Use your photo mats as pockets to hold extra large tags suitable for additional pictures or
journaling.

sometimes you only need one page to tell the story.

Bubble Trouble
This layout is a simple paper piecing using some non-traditional materials such as sponges, terry cloth, and glitter.
Tip:
Chalk the edges of circle punches to give depth to the bubbles in your layout.  Glitter the bubbles for an iridescent look.

Cookie Crumb KissesColor blocked layouts continue to be some of the most successful.  Use a color blocked border to create a large title then repeat the same colors throughout the layout.
Tip:
Use your computer to create wonderful titles, quotes and journaling for your layouts.

Hello World
Collaged layouts can be overwhelming.  In this layout I have balanced the collage with bold titles, quotes, and journaling.
Tip:
Use library pockets to hold small tags for journaling or small pictures.

I used the cricut to create all the strollers as well as mommy.  FUN!  I used velum for the photo mats  They look much better with the photos on it!

The biggest difference is the color on these layouts but look closely and you will see there are other more subtle differences too.

The use of chipboard is huge in scrapbooking.  These chipboard stencils
from Making Memories are painted to match the colors in the layout and are a
wonderful embellishment.
Tip:
Use rub-ons on your pictures as a title or as an identifier.

Sweet Dreams
This layout is a simple paper piecing.  Some features of this layout are the paper pieced moon, the cloud cut title and the gated photo mat.
